Head of Boarding | Leading International School in Beijing, China | Next Academic Year (August 2025)

The Head of Boarding is responsible for the pastoral care, operational oversight, and strategic development of the boarding provision across the school’s vibrant, multicultural student body.

Living on campus in the purpose-built boarding houses, the Head of Boarding fosters a warm, nurturing environment where students feel safe, supported, and valued. The school promotes a structured yet flexible residential programme that encourages academic success, personal growth, independence, and global citizenship. Duties include managing a team of House Parents and assistants, liaising with academic staff and parents, developing evening and weekend activities, and upholding safeguarding protocols in line with international best practice.

Salary & Benefits:

Competitive Leadership Salary of 55,000 RMB per month

The Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of pastoral experience and a deep commitment to student welfare. They should demonstrate outstanding leadership, communication, and organisational skills, as well as the ability to cultivate strong relationships with students, families, and staff. Experience in managing residential programmes, safeguarding responsibilities, and working within international education settings will be highly valued. The successful candidate should be visible, approachable, and emotionally intelligent, with a proactive approach to building a nurturing, inclusive, and engaging boarding culture. A willingness to contribute to wider school life, lead with integrity, and embrace a diverse community is essential.

Educational and Experience (Requirements):

*Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Psychology, Social Care, or a related field

*Recognised Teaching or Boarding Leadership Qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS, BSA Diploma, NPQSL, or equivalent)

*Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in a leadership capacity within a boarding or residential school setting

*Strong background in safeguarding, child protection, and well-being strategy

*Desirable additional qualifications: (Master’s Degree, Mental Health First Aid, IB school experience, international experience, or bilingual skills)
